Ritsuka, a young man dealing with the
death of his beloved older brother, meets
Soubi, another young man, who claims to
be a friend of his brother.

Soubi tells Ritsuka that he is a "War
Machine", belonging to his own brother,
Seimei.

Moreover, he informs Ritsuka that he,
Soubi, is under orders from Seimei to
defend Ritsuka in the coming conflict.
The fighting in question pairs a "Sacrifice"
with a "War Machine", and the "Sacrifice"
partner, Ritsuka in this case, suffers any
damage incurred.

Soon, hired killers from an organization
calling itself "Seven Moons" are
attempting to abduct Ritsuka, who learns
that the group is also responsible for his
brother's death.

Determined to learn the truth about why
his brother died, Ritsuka finds himself
caught up in a war fought with words and
their spellings.
